Safe as Milk

Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band · 1967

Safe as Milk was released in 1967 after Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band's relationship with A&M ended. Buddah issued the debut, whose blues foundation remains clearly visible. A young Ry Cooder contributed guitar and arrangements, helping shape this particular version of the group.
