Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde
The Pharcyde · 1992
Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde is a 1992 hip-hop debut by The Pharcyde, recorded in late 1991 at Paramount Recording Studios and then Hollywood Sounds. J-Swift produced 15 of 16 tracks using live instrumentation and samples, with input from JMD on drums and his own piano, bass and rhodes. The group lived communally at the Pharcyde Manor in Inglewood. They avoided profanity, partly at Delicious Vinyl’s urging for radio viability. Internal conflict led J-Swift to exit before completion, recommending L.A. Jay to co-produce the final track. The album is highly acclaimed as an influential alternative hip-hop record.
