Funeral
Funeral is Arcade Fire’s debut studio album, recorded mostly over one week in August 2003 at Hotel2Tango in Montreal, with extra sessions at Win Butler and Régine Chassagne’s apartment, completed in 2004. It is a document of collective bereavement — Chassagne’s grandmother (June 2003), the Butlers’ grandfather Alvino Rey (February 2004), Parry’s aunts (April 2004) — and of a winter power outage remembered from the 1998 North American ice storm.
