How it sounds, and how it was made
It sounds maximalist. Every track layers orchestral swells, gospel choirs, distorted basslines, and dense vocal stacks. It was made in three simultaneous rooms at Avex Recording Studio in Honolulu, with engineers working 24 hours a day, West taking 90-minute naps, and collaborators dissecting or adding to beats in real time — a process Q-Tip called ‘music by committee’.
